In Pursuit of a Sustainable World, We Produce Renewable Energy

Energy is the driving force of technological progress and the energy need of humanity is increasing significantly every year. In the next 30 years, world energy consumption is estimated to increase by 50%.

This situation clearly reveals that 50% of the total energy investments made so far in the world history shall be made as additional capacity increase within the next 30 years, otherwise there shall be an energy shortage.

On the other hand, it is clear that the gases released during energy production and the global warming threaten the future of the world and humanity.

When taken into account the above mentioned issues, Energy Holding has decided to invest in renewable and eco-friendly energy resources.

Considering renewable energy resources, it was decided to start with geothermal energy, which Turkey has the 5th highest potential in the world and the 1st in Europe.

With the right investments and conscious growth strategy in the field of geothermal energy, Energy Holding has become the one and only company in Turkey and one of the few companies in the world achieving the full integration in this field. The full vertical integration of Energy Holding in geothermal energy covers the following items;

  • Ownership of geothermal operation licenses with the highest energy potentials in Turkey,
  • Exploration Division: 3D underground modeling with expert staff and high-tech AMT/MT/TDEM and seismic equipment,
  • Drilling Division: Expert staff and 2 state-of-the-art land drilling rigs with a drilling capacity of 7.000 m and their complete equipment and auxiliaries,
  • Well Testing Division: Advanced well tests with expert staff and state-of-the-art equipment,
  • Expert Power Plant Investment Division,
  • Specialized Power Plant Operation Division.

Energy Holding has made its first investment in geothermal energy with Kemaliye Geothermal Power Plant (GPP), which was commissioned in the year 2016, located in Manisa Alaşehir, with an annual electricity generation capacity of 220 million kwh. With additional investments, it is planned to increase the annual electricity generation capacity of Kemaliye GPP to a level of 880 million kwh.

With the changes in laws and regulations paving the way for hybrid renewable energy investments, in addition to geothermal energy, Energy Holding continues to invest in renewable energy by:

  • Solar Energy investments,
  • Wind Energy investments.

On the other hand, Energy Holding has already completed the planning stage and made investments for the implementation or extraction of the following items that are assumed as by-products of geothermal energy, namely;

  • Obtaining CO2 and qualifying for the corresponding carbon credit,
  • Dry ice production,
  • Fertilizer production (Urea),
  • Methanol production,
  • Green hydrogen production,
  • Water mining: Lithium and precious metals and minerals,
  • Greenhouse,
  • Vegetable and Fruit drying facility,
  • Aquaculture,
  • Direct sale of hot water,
  • Thermal tourism

Energy Holding's investments in energy and related sectors in the province of Manisa are planned as an energy production and mixed industry-agriculture investment base, including the other related sectors mentioned above, with an annual electricity generation capacity of over 5 billion kwh.

Energy Holding has established JESDER (Geothermal Power Plant Investors Association) in 2014 to better represent the geothermal energy sector and solve the problems faced by the investors which in time has become the common platform of all active geothermal power plant investors. Energy Holding has been holding the presidency of JESDER since its establishment.
